BONAPARTE
A 340-meter-long scenic promenade on the edge of the northern mote (part of the Jazzar Pasha fortifications) of old Acre that connects the entry road of the old city to the sea promenade.
The promenade has two sides: The south side has a 10-meter high wall. Part of the Jazzar Pasha wall. The northern side has a wall from different parts of history.
The promenade was made by emphasizing seven main landmarks and the connection between them. The landmarks are: The west and east entrances, the balconies overlooking the mote and wall, the transition between the different walls and the Ficus tree surrounded by benches painted like the French flag.
With the inspiration of the environmental sculptor Richard Serra "Steya", the landmarks were designed with an array of walls and lines between them. Part of them are the historic walls and part of them are new walls with a contemporary geometry and diagonal surfaces cladded with traditional materials like plaster, mortar and stone.
